The CX-90, the first Mazda plug-in hybrid electric vehicle

On December 13th, 2022, Mazda Canada released a second image of the future CX-90, which will be the very first vehicle offered in a plug-in hybrid version for the brand. However, we will be able to discover the vehicle in its entirety at the end of January 2023 when it makes its worldwide debut in Los Angeles. We know it will be a three-row SUV built on Mazda's all-new large platform. The 2024 CX-90 will be the SUV with wider, longer and more aggressive dimensions among Mazda's lineup.

For now, we can see in close-up, the right front wing in a brand new color; Artisan Red that continues Mazda's Kodo artistic philosophy.  In addition, we can see the inscription "INLINE6" which gives us a clue about the engine that will power this all-new SUV. Indeed, it will be a standard inline six-cylinder engine that will be found under the hood of the 2024 CX-90.

Available in plug-in hybrid version

Indeed, the 2024 CX-90 will be the first Mazda vehicle to be available in a plug-in hybrid version. This SUV will be equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 187 horsepower paired with a 100 kW electric motor.

An all-new e-Skyactiv powertrain, configured specifically for the North American market, will also be in place to offer consumers the best of both worlds in terms of performance and efficiency.

Stay tuned for all the details on the CX-90 when it is unveiled in January 2023. Follow us on our Facebook page, so you don't miss a thing!
